Social Media Etiquette: Listening and Responding

August 5, 2011

Love this - image from Cassette.

We’ll return to the Media Kit plans after BlogHer11 wraps, but until then, I’ll be sharing some fantastic comments we received when we asked how people viewed social media etiquette. There was great feedback and interaction – we love that! – and if you have tips to share, feel free to email us at [email protected]

Listen and then respond. Ask your fans/followers what they would like to see/hear/read more of on your pages. Then, deliver. Listen to the conversations that are happening around your brand and respond appropriately.

The most important thing to remember is that unlike traditional media, social media is a dialogue; it is not a monologue. The key word is “social.” It is not a billboard to push your agenda on.

How do you listen in today’s social world?
