Why Should I Start a Blog?

This is one of those hot button questions – of course everyone is so excited about blogging. Of COURSE we all want to be a part of it. And OF COURSE we all have the talents and skills to be super successful…

Right?

I want to get some crowd opinions here to keep this conversations fair and balanced, but the thing is… you should only really start a blog for one reason:

Because you’re SO passionate about something – so ecstatic and vibrant that you almost buzz all over – that you can’t help yourself. You have to share it.

That’s why I started my denim blog.

Why did you start yours?

I just love sharing shopping stories – great deals, awesome products, horrible customer service (or great service!), etc. Plus I can’t usually write freely at my day job, so it helps to have a more creative outlet :)

I have a blog because everyone says I should! I am passionate about my jewelry, crafts and art. I find blogging difficult and time consuming sometimes because I am not the wordy type so I have a lot of visuals with links to good info on my blog. I also like meeting and connecting new people and other bloggers.

I have two sites – the one linked to my name in this comment is a petite-related blog. It’s not just a style site (you know, ones where writers post outfit pictures and ask for comments), but also my thoughts on body image issues from the perspective of a short person. Petite issues don’t get much love from mainstream media or body image activists, after all. My other site, delectablychic.com is an online-only lifestyle site based out of Toronto, focusing on style, dining and fun.

Cynthia, I am SO with you on the issues about petite blogging (writing a denim blog, that comes up for me often). You’re doing a great job of sharing details and really useful information that others don’t, though, so keep it up!

I started my blog because I had stuff to say and didn’t want to be censored. Not that I say anything bad but my opinions are my opinions after all. After the first one I then started others so I could diversify what I had to say. And I’m still saying stuff after a lot of years.

Mitch, it would be GREAT to have you write a guest post if you’re interested!
